Smart Noise makes running ad campaigns for your music much easier—but there are a few things you still need to set up on your end to make everything work smoothly, especially if you're using Smart Noise's self-serve ad feature.
The good news? You don’t need to deal with the messy parts of Ads Manager, but you do need to connect some basic Facebook assets.
This guide will walk you through every step of what’s required so you’re ready to go.

📦 Step 1: What is Facebook Business Manager?
Think of Facebook Business Manager (now often called Meta Business Manager) as the container that holds all your assets—your Facebook page, Instagram account, ad account, and pixel.
If you don’t have one yet, create it here:
Once it’s created, manage everything at:
🧱 Step 2: Connect Your Facebook Page
Even if you’re running Instagram-only ads, Meta still requires you to have a Facebook Page.
🔗 You can identify your role on a Page by visiting the Page Roles tab in the Facebook Page's Settings
You have 3 options:
Situation | What to Do |
You already have a Page | Great! Just connect it to your Business Manager. |
You don’t have a Page | Create one inside your Business Manager. |
You’re running ads for someone else (e.g. artist, label) | Request access to their Page or have them assign it to you. |
Important: You must be an admin of the Page to add it to your Business Manager.
How to add your Page:
Go to Business Settings
Click Accounts → Pages
Click Add
Choose “Add a Page” if you own it, or “Request Access” if it belongs to someone else
⚠️ If someone else already connected the Page to another Business Manager, they’ll need to remove it first before you can add it.
💳 Step 3: Create or Connect an Ad Account
You need a working Ad Account to run ads. It’s where your billing info lives and where your campaign budget is charged from.
You have 2 options:
Situation | What to Do |
You have an ad account | You can connect it directly—no ownership transfer needed. |
You don’t have one yet | Create a new ad account inside your Business Manager. |
There’s no “ownership level” like Pages. You can freely move or create ad accounts.
How to create an ad account:
Go to Business Settings
Click Accounts → Ad Accounts
Click Add → “Create a New Ad Account”
Set your time zone, currency, and purpose
Assign yourself as a person with full control
Important! Add a payment method
Select the ad account
Go to Payment Settings
Add your credit/debit card or PayPal
📸 Step 4: Connect Your Instagram Account
Your Instagram account is what fans will see in your ads.
In some cases, when you connect your Facebook Page, your Instagram account will link automatically.
If it doesn’t:
Go to Business Settings
Click Accounts → Instagram Accounts
Click Add
Log in with your Instagram credentials
That’s it. It’s now available to use in your Smart Noise campaigns.
🧠 Step 5: Create or Add Your Facebook Pixel
The Meta Pixel is what tracks what fans do on your Smart Noise pages—like clicking links or completing a pre-save.
This is important for:
Retargeting people who visited your page
Optimizing your ads to find similar fans
Measuring what’s actually working
How to create a pixel:
Go to Business Settings → Data Sources → Pixels
Click Add → Name your Pixel
You can skip the installation step (Smart Noise handles this)
You do not need to install the pixel manually—just copy the Pixel ID and paste it into your Smart Noise page settings.
🔐 Step 6: Assign Yourself to the Assets
Even if you’re the admin, it’s a good habit to assign yourself to each asset (Page, Ad Account, Pixel, Instagram account).
Why?
It ensures you won’t hit any permission issues while running or editing campaigns, especially if your role changes later.
How to do it:
Select the asset (e.g. Pixel)
Go to People tab
Click your name → Enable full access (e.g. “Manage Pixel”)
Click Assign
Repeat this for:
Facebook Page
Ad Account
Instagram Account
Pixel
✅ Final Checklist
Asset | Required? | Notes |

Ad Account | ✅ | Attach a payment method |
Instagram Account | ✅ | Must be linked to your Page or added manually |
Meta Pixel | ✅ | Helps track conversions + retargeting |

❓FAQs
Q: Do I need to install the Meta Pixel manually on Smart Noise?
Nope! Just add your Pixel ID in Smart Noise—events will fire automatically.
Q: I only want to advertise on Instagram. Do I still need a Facebook Page?
Yes. Meta requires you to have a Facebook Page even if you only want to run Instagram ads.
Q: Someone else has my Page in their Business Manager. What do I do?
They need to remove it first. Then you can add it to yours.
Q: Can I manage multiple artists or clients?
Yes, but you’ll need to request access to their Pages, Ad Accounts, and Pixels individually. For this, we recommend creating a Business Manager specifically for your agency or label.
