Zapier Integration
Updated over 3 months ago

The Smart Noise Zapier integration is currently in Beta. Click here to access it.

Zapier is a powerful automation tool that allows you to connect Smart Noise with thousands of other apps, automating your workflows and improving efficiency. Whether you want to manage fan data, send notifications, or update your CRM automatically, integrating Smart Noise with Zapier can help you achieve that seamlessly.

Currently, Smart Noise offers a trigger for when a new fan enters your account, such as through a pre-save campaign. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps of setting up this integration and how you can start automating.

Step 1: Creating a Zapier Account

If you don’t already have a Zapier account, follow these steps:

1. Visit Zapier.com and sign up for an account.

2. Confirm your email and log in to the Zapier dashboard.

Step 2: Connecting Smart Noise to Zapier

To integrate Smart Noise with Zapier, you’ll need your API key, which you can find in your Smart Noise profile. Here’s how:

1. Log in to your Smart Noise account and navigate to your profile.

2. Under the "Zapier Integration" section, you’ll find your Zapier API key.

3. Copy the API key.

4. Request access to the Smart Noise Zapier integration if you haven't already, here

5. In your Zapier dashboard, click on "Create Zap".

6. Search for Smart Noise in the "Choose App" section.

7. Select the trigger event: New Fan.

8. Zapier will prompt you to connect your Smart Noise account:

- Click on "Sign in to Smart Noise".

- Paste your Zapier API key to connect your account.

9. Once connected, Smart Noise will be ready to use as a trigger in your Zaps.

Step 3: Setting Up a Workflow (Zap)

Example: Add New Fans from Smart Noise to a Mailchimp List

Let’s say you want to automatically add new fans to your Mailchimp mailing list when they enter your Smart Noise account, such as through a pre-save campaign. Follow these steps to set up this workflow:

1. Choose Smart Noise as the Trigger App

• In Zapier, click “Create Zap”.

• Search for Smart Noise and select it.

• For the trigger event, choose New Fan.

2. Connect Your Smart Noise Account

• Zapier will prompt you to connect your Smart Noise account.

• Click “Sign in to Smart Noise”.

• Enter your Zapier API key, which you can find in your Smart Noise profile.

• Once connected, proceed to the next step.

3. Choose Mailchimp as the Action App

• In the Action step, search for Mailchimp.

• Choose Add/Update Subscriber as the action event. This ensures that new fans are either added to your Mailchimp list or updated if they already exist.

4. Connect Your Mailchimp Account

• Zapier will ask you to sign in to Mailchimp. Enter your credentials and connect your Mailchimp account.

5. Set Up Subscriber Information

• In the action setup, choose which Mailchimp audience (list) to add the new fan to.

• Map the relevant fields from Smart Noise to Mailchimp. For example:

Email Address → Smart Noise Fan Email

First Name → Smart Noise Fan Name

• You can also map additional fields like tags or custom merge fields to better segment your audience in Mailchimp.

6. Test the Zap

• Make sure at least one new fan has been added after connecting Zapier to Smart Noise

• Click Test & Review to test the Zap with data.

• Zapier will run the integration from your Smart Noise account and check if the data is correctly sent to Mailchimp.

7. Turn On the Zap

• If the test is successful, click Turn on Zap to activate your automation.

Step 4: Testing Your Zaps

To properly test the Smart Noise Zap, you’ll need at least one new fan to enter your Smart Noise account after integrating it with Zapier. Without a new fan, the test won’t retrieve any data, and Zapier won’t be able to simulate the workflow correctly.

Here’s how to test:

1. After setting up the Zap, click on “Test & Review”.

2. If a new fan has entered your Smart Noise account, Zapier will simulate the workflow with their data.

3. Review the test results to ensure everything is flowing as expected.

4. If the test is successful, click “Turn on Zap” to activate the automation.

Troubleshooting Tips

1. Authentication Issues: Double-check that the Zapier API key from your Smart Noise profile is entered correctly in Zapier.

2. Trigger Delays: If new fans don’t show up in connected apps immediately, note that Zapier may experience slight delays depending on your plan.

3. Field Mapping Issues: Ensure that the correct fan information fields (e.g., name, email) are mapped between Smart Noise and the connected app.

4. Test Data: You need at least one new fan to enter your Smart Noise account after integrating with Zapier. Otherwise, when testing the Zap, it won’t retrieve any data, and you won’t be able to simulate a fan being added. Ensure you have some recent fan data before attempting to test the workflow.
